WoW Midnight — Feral Druid Guide

A complete Feral Druid guide for WoW Midnight: stat priority, talent builds for Druid of the Claw and Wildstalker, bleed maintenance, Convoke the Spirits timing, openers, priority lists, enchants, gems, consumables, and Season 1 BiS gear.

Overview

Feral Druid is a melee DPS spec built around bleed maintenance, combo point generation, and finishing move timing. The rotation is a priority-based system centered on keeping Rake and Rip active on targets, spending combo points on the right finishers, and managing Tiger's Fury and Bloodtalons procs for burst windows. Feral rewards precision — clipped bleeds and mistimed finishers compound into meaningful throughput loss over a fight.

Hero class note: Druid is a leather melee DPS in Cat Form. Starts at level 1 (base class).

Unique utility: Innervate (healer mana), Rebirth (combat rez), Mark of the Wild.

Race: Night Elf is optimal — Shadowmeld allows you to drop threat in dangerous situations and provides a passive Haste bonus in Midnight.

Hero Talent Paths

Path Focus Notes
Druid of the Claw Enhances Cat Form damage, Rake, and Mangle; adds Ravage as a proc ability Recommended for Mythic+ and AoE content — strong cleave via enhanced bleed application
Wildstalker Deep bleed synergy; Entangling Vines root integration; sustained single-target Recommended for Raid ST — superior sustained single-target bleed damage

Strengths

  • Strong sustained single-target damage
  • Excellent cleave via Primal Wrath and Thrash
  • High self-sustain through Predatory Swiftness and Regrowth procs
  • Strong defensives for a melee (Barkskin, Bear Form emergency)
  • Shadowmeld (Night Elf) provides unique utility during progression

Weaknesses

  • Tier set is one of the weaker this season — less set-power-dependent than other classes
  • Rotation complexity is high — bleed pandemic windows, combo point optimization, and proc management simultaneously
  • Rip clipping is a consistent mistake that costs meaningful DPS
  • Spread multi-target scenarios reduce bleed efficiency significantly

Stat Priority

Priority Stat Notes
1 Agility Always follow item level
2 Mastery Mastery: Razor Claws increases bleed damage — bleed effects account for the majority of Feral's damage
3 Critical Strike Increases damage and fuels Predatory Swiftness procs
4 Haste Increases attack speed and energy regeneration
5 Versatility Lowest priority; avoid over-investing

Diminishing Returns Thresholds

Stat DR Threshold
Critical Strike 1,380 rating
Haste 1,320 rating
Mastery 1,380 rating
Versatility 1,620 rating

Mastery scales directly with your primary damage type — sim on Raidbots to confirm your secondary weights as gear improves.

Rotation & Cooldowns

Core Abilities Reference

Ability Role Notes
Rake Primary DoT Applies Bleed; 4-combo point builder; refresh at <4.2 sec remaining (pandemic)
Rip Primary finisher DoT 5-combo point bleed; refresh at <6.3 sec remaining; never clip early
Shred Primary combo builder Generate combo points; generates Bloodtalons proc
Ferocious Bite Execute finisher Use at 5 combo points when Rip has >4 sec remaining, or at <25% HP
Primal Wrath AoE Rip Applies a shorter Rip to all nearby targets; use at 3+ targets
Thrash AoE DoT Keep active at all times; spreads via Swipe
Tiger's Fury Major cooldown 10-sec window; regenerates 50 energy; extends bleed snapshot
Bloodtalons Talent proc Empowers next 3 damage abilities; trigger via Shred + Rake + another ability

Bleed snapshotting: Rake and Rip snapshot the Mastery, Tiger's Fury, and Bloodtalons values at the time of cast. Never refresh a bleed from a Tiger's Fury window with a non-buffed version — you will downgrade the snapshot.

Pandemic window: Refresh bleeds when they have ≤30% of their total duration remaining. For Rake (15 sec base): refresh at ≤4.5 sec. For Rip (24 sec base): refresh at ≤7.2 sec. Refreshing earlier clips the buff, refreshing later drops it.

Opener

Step Action
Pre-pull Prepop Tiger's Fury (for energy and snapshot)
1 Rake (snapshot Tiger's Fury)
2 Shred × 2
3 Bloodtalons proc: Shred + Rake (renew) + third ability
4 Rip (at 5 combo points, with Bloodtalons + Tiger's Fury snapshot)
5 Trinkets and potion
6 Convoke the Spirits (after bleeds fully applied and running)
Continue priority list

Single-Target Priority

  1. Tiger's Fury (on cooldown — do not hold)
  2. Rake (if missing or expiring — pandemic refresh)
  3. Ferocious Bite (at <25% HP — execute phase)
  4. Rip (if missing or expiring — pandemic refresh, at 5 combo points)
  5. Ferocious Bite (at 5 combo points, Rip has >4 sec remaining)
  6. Rake (with Tiger's Fury or Bloodtalons active, if pandemic window allows)
  7. Shred (combo point generation — triggers Bloodtalons proc)
  8. Thrash (if not active)

AoE Priority (3+ Targets)

  1. Thrash (keep active on all targets)
  2. Tiger's Fury (on cooldown)
  3. Primal Wrath (at 5 combo points — applies Rip to all targets)
  4. Rake (on highest-priority target)
  5. Swipe (combo generation)
  6. Shred (single priority target)

Cooldown Reference

Cooldown Notes
Tiger's Fury Use on cooldown. Never hold. The energy refund and damage buff mean holding it for "better timing" always loses value.
Convoke the Spirits Cast only when bleeds are fully applied and running. Convoke procs are amplified by active DoTs — casting immediately after applying Rake/Rip wastes the window. Cast after your opener bleeds have ticked for 2+ seconds.
Berserk / Incarnation: King of the Jungle 3-minute CD. Use with Tiger's Fury for maximum bleed snapshot overlap. Align trinkets.

Best in Slot Gear

Season 1 BiS. The tier set is competitive but not as power-defining as some other classes this season — individual item quality still matters significantly.

Slot Item Source
Weapon Deceiver's Rotbow Maisara Caverns (M+)
Head Devouring Reaver's Intake Tier Set
Neck Amulet of the Abyssal Hymn Midnight Falls (raid)
Shoulders Pauldrons of the Void Hunter Seat of the Triumvirate (M+)

Crafted priority: Adherent's Silken Shroud (cloak, Arcanoweave Lining embellishment) is the highest-value early craft.

Tips & Common Mistakes

  • Never clip Rip — Rip is your highest-damage bleed. Refreshing it outside the pandemic window (>30% remaining) downgrades the snapshot and wastes combo points. Memorize the pandemic threshold: refresh at ≤7.2 sec remaining.
  • Snapshot Tiger's Fury onto bleeds — Apply Rake and Rip during Tiger's Fury for the snapshot bonus. These bleeds tick harder for their full duration. Refreshing during Tiger's Fury with an already-active TF bleed resets the snapshot at the same value, which is fine.
  • Convoke timing is critical — casting Convoke immediately after applying bleeds wastes the amplification. Let bleeds tick, then Convoke for maximum proc value.
  • Night Elf for Shadowmeld — Shadowmeld can drop threat or cancel a targeted ability in critical moments during progression. The passive Haste bonus is also meaningful. No other race is recommended for competitive play.
  • Druid of the Claw for M+ — the cleave damage on Rake and Mangle makes DotC significantly ahead in multi-target. Wildstalker's sustained bleed synergy wins in single-target raid scenarios.
  • Bloodtalons requires setup — it procs after casting 3 different abilities. The most reliable trigger is Shred + Rake + any third ability. Don't dump combo points before Bloodtalons is up.
  • Tier set is not the priority — unlike some classes, the Feral tier set is a flat damage bump rather than a rotation-altering effect. Don't chase tier slots at the expense of large item level jumps elsewhere.
