WoW Midnight — Fury Warrior Guide
A complete Fury Warrior DPS guide for WoW Midnight: stat priority, Slayer and Mountain Thane builds, Enrage and Rage management, opener and priority lists for ST and AoE, Recklessness alignment, enchants, gems, consumables, and Season 1 BiS gear.
Overview
Fury Warrior is a dual-wield melee DPS spec built around sustained Rage generation and Enrage uptime. The core loop is generating Rage through Bloodthirst, Raging Blow, and auto-attacks, spending it on Rampage to maintain the Enrage buff — which fuels Mastery: Unshackled Fury for a significant damage bonus. Fury's strength is its seamless transition between single-target and multi-target scenarios and its consistent damage profile. The spec rewards keeping every GCD filled and punishes hard any time you spend away from your target.
Unique utility: Rallying Cry (group HP increase), Battle Shout (Attack Power buff), Commanding Shout, Spell Reflection, Disrupting Shout (AoE interrupt).
Hero Talent Paths
| Path | Identity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Slayer | Enhances Execute and Bladestorm frequency and damage; interrupt during Bladestorm; mobility on Charge/Heroic Leap | Recommended for raid single-target — burstier cooldowns, easier ST/AoE swapping |
| Mountain Thane | Reintroduces Thunder Clap as Crashing Thunder (Rage gen); Lightning Strikes for AoE; stronger defensives | Recommended for Mythic+ — superior sustained multi-target and survivability |
Strengths
- Seamless single-target to multi-target transitions
- Powerful burst cooldowns for multiple enemies simultaneously
- Strong mobility (Charge, Heroic Leap, Slayer enhancements)
- Solid personal and raid-wide defensive options
Weaknesses
- Heavily punished by combat downtime — limited ranged capabilities
- Flat damage profile disadvantaged during short burst phases
- Limited viable defensive cooldowns for specific mechanics
- Requires consistent melee uptime to function
Stat Priority
| Priority | Stat | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Strength | Always follow item level |
| 2 | Haste | Best secondary — reduces GCD and cooldowns; compresses rotation; increases Shield Block availability for Prot; valuable early in gearing |
| 3 | Mastery | Unshackled Fury — increases damage while Enraged; does not affect trinkets, potions, or enchants |
| 4 | Critical Strike | Increases ability and auto-attack damage; equal priority to Versatility |
| 4 | Versatility | Flat damage/reduction; affects all sources including trinkets and enchants |
Both Mountain Thane and Slayer share identical stat priorities.
Diminishing Returns Thresholds
| Stat | DR Threshold |
|---|---|
| Critical Strike | 1,380 rating |
| Haste | 1,320 rating |
| Mastery | 1,380 rating |
| Versatility | 1,620 rating |
Haste tends to fall in value as gear improves. Sim at higher item levels — Mastery often overtakes it significantly in late-season gear.
Talent Builds
Slayer is recommended for raid single-target. Mountain Thane is recommended for Mythic+ due to its automatic AoE cleave through Thunder Clap and stronger survivability for high-end keys.
Slayer — Raid (Single Target)
Bloodthirst forms the core alongside Rampage and Execute. Gains increased Sudden Death procs through Imminent Demise. Burstier cooldowns; easier to swap between single-target and multi-target builds. Flexible talent swaps: Fast Footwork, Interpose, Field Dressing.
Mountain Thane — Mythic+
Thunder Clap automatically cleaves the single-target rotation — every Thunder Clap hit procs Lightning Strikes on nearby enemies. "Excellent in big or extended pulls." Greater survivability bonuses for high-end keys. Sacrifice some boss damage vs Slayer.
Mountain Thane — Raid (Multi-Target)
Stronger sustained cleave than Slayer. Cooldowns take longer to deal their damage, making it better for extended multi-target phases rather than short burst windows.
Slayer — Mythic+ (Alternative)
Reap the Storm provides multi-target through Execute procs. Slightly stronger boss damage. Weaker sustained add waves vs Mountain Thane.

Rotation & Cooldowns
Core Abilities Reference
| Ability | Role | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bloodthirst | Primary filler + Enrage refresh | Core of the rotation; generates Rage and refreshes Enrage |
| Raging Blow | High-damage filler | Use on cooldown |
| Rampage | Primary Rage spender + Enrage trigger | Spend at 100–110 Rage; triggers Enrage; never let Enrage drop |
| Execute | Execute finisher | Usable during Recklessness (Slayer) or target below 20% |
| Odyn's Fury | Multi-hit cooldown + Enrage trigger | Strong opener; triggers Enrage automatically |
| Recklessness | Primary burst cooldown | +50% Rage generation; align with Avatar |
| Avatar (Mountain Thane) | Secondary burst cooldown | 20% damage increase; reduces Thunder Clap cooldown |
| Bladestorm (Slayer) | Secondary cooldown | Strong burst AoE; interrupt during channel |
| Thunder Clap (Mountain Thane) | AoE Rage gen + cleave | Keep on cooldown; automatically cleaves single-target rotation |
| Thunder Blast (Mountain Thane) | Empowered Thunder Clap | Use at 2 charges inside burst windows |
| Whirlwind (Slayer AoE) | AoE + buff activator | Maintain the Whirlwind buff for AoE; use to open AoE openers |
| Rend | Bleed DoT | Keep active |
Enrage: The critical Fury buff triggered by Rampage. Mastery: Unshackled Fury provides a large damage bonus while Enraged. Letting Enrage drop while you have Rage to spend is always wrong.

Cooldown Reference
| Cooldown | Notes |
|---|---|
| Recklessness | +50% Rage generation for the duration. Align with Avatar when possible. Anger Management reduces the cooldown — they should naturally align. |
| Odyn's Fury | Strong multi-hit opener. Triggers Enrage automatically — use it to refresh Enrage rather than waiting for a Rampage if the timing is right. |
| Bladestorm (Slayer) | Strong burst AoE window. Unlike Arms, Fury Bladestorm is a damage cooldown — use inside Recklessness. Slayer: can interrupt mid-channel if needed. |
| Avatar (Mountain Thane) | 20% damage increase. Macro with Recklessness. Also reduces Thunder Clap cooldown, accelerating the Mountain Thane rotation. |

Tips & Common Mistakes
- Never let Enrage drop with Rage to spend — Enrage is the single most important buff to maintain. If you have 100+ Rage, cast Rampage. No other consideration overrides this.
- Recklessness and Avatar together — macro them or sequence them back to back. Both cooldowns should never be used in isolation when the other is available. Lost alignment is lost burst.
- Odyn's Fury is not just an opener — it triggers Enrage automatically and deals strong multi-hit damage. Use it on cooldown throughout the fight, not just at the start.
- Mountain Thane: Thunder Clap on cooldown always — the entire value of Mountain Thane's AoE comes from constant Thunder Clap usage. Holding it for a "better moment" doesn't exist; every second it's not on cooldown is missed Lightning Strikes damage.
- Downtime is Fury's biggest enemy — the spec has no ranged damage, no passive Rage trickle, and no meaningful reset between disengagements. Minimise all movement away from targets. If forced off, sprint back immediately.
- Haste falls off in late gear — Haste is the strongest early secondary but tends to be outpaced by Mastery at higher gear levels. Sim regularly as your item level increases.
