Overview
Balance Druid is a versatile ranged caster DPS built around Eclipse cycling and Astral Power management. The spec delivers sustained damage through alternating Solar and Lunar Eclipse empowerments, spending accumulated Astral Power on Starsurge (single-target) and Starfall (AoE). Burst windows are defined by Celestial Alignment or Incarnation: Chosen of Elune, which empower both Eclipse states simultaneously.
Unique utility: Innervate — restores mana to a healer. Mark of the Wild — 5% stat increase to the group.
Core resource: Astral Power — generated by Wrath (Solar Eclipse) and Starfire (Lunar Eclipse). Spent on Starsurge and Starfall. Mastery: Starlight increases all damage based on current Astral Power percentage.

Eclipse mechanics:

Crafted priority: Adherent's Silken Shroud (cloak, Arcanoweave Lining embellishment) → Silvermoon Agent's Deflectors (wrists, Arcanoweave Lining). Both are early-season BiS and accessible via work orders.
Trinket strategy: Align on-use trinkets with Celestial Alignment/Incarnation windows for full burst overlap.
Tips & Common Mistakes
- Never overcap Astral Power — pool to 90 going into Celestial Alignment, then dump aggressively. Letting it hit cap and waste generation is the most common throughput loss.
- Maintain DoT uptime — Moonfire and Sunfire should never fall off. At 2+ targets, prioritize Sunfire on all targets before casting Starfall.
- Celestial Alignment alignment — every major trinket and potion should be used on the Celestial Alignment pull; subsequent uses should align on cooldown. Don't wait for a "perfect" window.
- Convoke the Spirits timing — Convoke generates procs based on your active DoTs. If you cast it immediately after applying Moonfire and Sunfire, those DoTs are fresh and Convoke procs aren't amplified. Let DoTs tick, then Convoke.
- Starfall vs Starsurge target threshold — at 3+ targets, Starfall is almost always superior. At 1–2 targets, Starsurge. Don't use Starfall on single-target even in AoE-heavy M+ pulls where one target has more health.
- Eclipse transitions — going from Solar to Lunar requires casting Starfire; going from Lunar to Solar requires casting Wrath. Don't let Eclipse drop without intentionally transitioning — stay empowered at all times.
- Keeper of the Grove for raid — the treant interactions create sustained damage that scales well with sustained raid encounter timers. Elune's Chosen is better in the burst-heavy environment of timed M+ keys.
