Overview
Destruction is Warlock's "big hits" spec. Where Affliction wins through attrition and Demonology wins through pet armies, Destruction wins through Chaos Bolt — a high-damage, always-critical spender that you generate resources to fire as often as possible. The spec emphasizes cleave via Havoc and Mayhem, and rewards clean resource management over cooldown windows.
Primary resource: Soul Shards, capped at 5. Generated by Immolate/Wither, Incinerate, and Conflagrate. Spent on Chaos Bolt (single-target) and Rain of Fire (AoE). Never overcap.

Tips & Common Mistakes
- Never overcap Shards — Incinerate generates 2–3 Shards per cast. If you're casting Incinerate at 4+ Shards with no spender lined up, you're losing resources.
- Use the Shard spending table — whether to Chaos Bolt or Rain of Fire depends on Havoc status and target count. Chaos Bolt into a Havoc target is almost always better than Rain of Fire; know when Rain of Fire wins.
- Havoc the right target — apply Havoc to lower-priority or add targets, not your primary. The bonus damage goes to the Havoc target, which should survive the full 15 seconds.
- Don't delay Infernal for perfection — Summon Infernal on cooldown is better than holding it for an ideal setup that may not come. Delay only if you'd lose a full use over the fight duration.
- Hellcaller: DoTs before Malevolence — Malevolence doubles Wither stack gain while active. Apply Wither to all relevant targets first, then activate. Malevolence into an empty target is wasted.
- Conflagrate is a generator, not a cooldown — use it proactively to maintain Backdraft uptime and Shard flow. Don't sit on charges.
