Krikzix

Imp · Designated Test Passenger · No Self-Preservation Instinct

He is small, red, and entirely too confident about it. He rides on her shoulder as a matter of established territorial claim and has done so long enough that the position is simply his now, in the way that certain things become true through sheer persistence. He smells faintly of fel smoke and singed leather, which is also true of most of her vehicles, for reasons that are connected. His eyes are enormous and yellow and contain an expression of permanent delight that Kaz’rethok finds personally offensive.

He is, functionally, the most enthusiastic creature in any room he occupies. He finds nearly everything hilarious. He finds Aereth’s ongoing and carefully maintained obsession with a particular Silvermoon inheritance dispute absolutely hilarious, which is a source of ongoing tension between them that she refuses to acknowledge and he refuses to drop. He is the designated test passenger for every vehicle modification she attempts, a role he accepted with the kind of enthusiasm that suggests he does not fully appreciate what “test passenger” means, or appreciates it completely and simply does not care.

He is, despite all appearances, genuinely useful. His fel channeling is precise when he bothers to concentrate, which is more often than he lets on. He has kept secrets he was never explicitly asked to keep. He pretends to be asleep sometimes when he isn’t, and during these periods he hears things, and he has never once repeated them to anyone. This is, in its own chaotic way, a form of loyalty. She knows this. She has never mentioned it. He would be insufferable about it.

On Approach

He will absolutely talk to strangers. He will say things Aereth would prefer he didn’t. He is not malicious about this — he simply has no filter and finds everything interesting. He is not a reliable source of information about her and should not be treated as one, not because he lies, but because his interpretation of events is colourfully his own. Kaz’rethok ignores him as a policy. She redirects him when she remembers to. He considers all of this deeply funny.
